TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The 14th-ranked Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's track and field team brought home a second-place finish at the third edition of the Friday Night Spikes series, falling to WashU by just 13 points.
The Fightin' Engineers brought home six total event wins in the meet and six more second-place finishes.
Rose-Hulman started off hot in the 5000m Run as
Thomas Tullius and
Elijah Hadler both ran under the previous school record time en route to a top-2 finish. Tullius ran a school record time of 14:57.70, and Hadler finished with the second-fastest time at 15:06.26.
Jailen Hobbs led the team with a pair of first-place finishes in the 60m dash and the 200m dash. His 60m dash time of 6.80 tied his season-best which ranks as the #2 in NCAA Division III at this point in the season, and his 200m dash time of 22.44 was good enough to win the event.
Antoine Cooper picked up the win in the Weight Throw with a mark of 49' 6.25", and his Shot Put mark of 46' 7.25" was good enough for second-place.
Tim Youndt finished 3rd in the 60m hurdles with an 8.62. His prelims time of 8.46 ranks #5 in school history.
The Fightin' Engineers will return to action on Friday, February 2 as they hit the road for the first time of the season and travel to Ohio Northern at 5 PM.
