Baseball Finishes Spring Trip on Saturday at 9 AM Against Houghton

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology baseball team finishes off their 2024 spring trip on Saturday as they host Houghton at 9 AM at the Lake Myrtle Sports Park.

ROSE-HULMAN GAME NOTES:
» Rose-Hulman baseball concludes their 2024 spring trip with Saturday morning's game against Houghton.
» The Fightin' Engineers finished their season opening series with Emory with a 1-2 overall record. Rose-Hulman won the first game on Saturday by a score of 11-9, but they fell 11-6 and 16-4 in the final two games.
» Rose-Hulman started their 2024 Russ Matt Invitational run with a pair of one-run victories over Dubuque (6-5) and Moravian (8-7 in 10 inn.), but they dropped both games of Friday's doubleheader to Grove City
» Rose-Hulman opens their third season under head coach Adam Rosen as the Fightin' Engineers look to improve upon a 23-21 season in 2023 that included a 13-9 record in the HCAC.
» Kade Kline leads the team in batting this year with a .318 batting average. He has reached base safely in 7 of the 8 games this year, and he had his 26-game reached base streak broken in the first game of Friday's doubleheader. Kline also leads the team in on-base percentage (0.484) and slugging percentage (0.591).
» Connor O'Connell has 8 hits including 2 doubles and a triple to lead the team in hits, doubles, and extra-base hits in 2024.
» Josh Erpenbeck completed the Rose-Hulman comeback on Tuesday with a two-out, two-RBI double in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Fightin' Engineers their first and last lead of the game. He also led Rose-Hulman with three hits on Friday.
» Michael Yager leads the team on the hill with 11.1 innings pitched and 10 strikeouts.
» Schuyler Wilcox has picked up the win in two of the three RoseHulman victories this season. His 2.25 ERA is the top on the team for all qualifying pitchers.
» Rose-Hulman was selected fourth overall in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference preseason poll. The Fightin' Engineers received 62 poll points.
» The Fightin' Engineers return to action in two weeks as they host a three-game series with the Calvin Knights on March 15 and 16.

Houghton Highlanders » Houghton enters Friday's game with an 0-6 overall record to open the 2024 season.
» The Highlanders have dropped games to Alma, Carthage, Grove City, and Wartburg (3 times).
