Baseball Set to Host Anderson in Weekend HCAC Series

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology baseball team will host Anderson in a three-game series this weekend on Saturday, April 20 at 1 PM and 4 PM, and Sunday, April 21 at 12 PM. 

ROSE-HULMAN GAME NOTES:
» Rose-Hulman stands at 17-12 overall and 8-4 in the HCAC heading into the weekend series against the Ravens.
» The Rose-Hulman baseball team has partnered with Team Impact, a program that matches children facing a serious illness and disability with college sports teams.
» Before the first game of the doubleheader, Terre Haute native Daniel, who has been with the team the past three years, will be throwing out the first pitch.
» T-shirts will be on sale to help raise funds that will be used to support future Team Impact experiences with Daniel and the Rose-Hulman baseball team.
» The team comes off a tough loss to the Webster Gorloks on Wednesday night with a final score of 17-7.
» Last weekend, the Fightin' Engineers strung together three straight wins defeating Earlham in a doubleheader on Saturday and DePauw on Sunday. 
» The Fightin' Engineers have been picked to finish fourth in the conference receiving 62 points in the league's preseason poll.
» Rose-Hulman leads the conference and ranks fifth in the nation with 32 double plays this season. 
» The team also ranks sixth in the nation in double plays per game with 1.10.
» Kade Kline leads the team with 45 hits, 40 runs scored, and 14 stolen bases this season.
» Earlier this season, Kline was the first player to hit for the cycle in school history in the Fightin' Engineers' last win of the Florida trip against Houghton.
» Michael Stenger has been another standout at the plate leading the team with a .389 batting average, .722 slugging percentage, and a 1.185 OPS. 
» Connor O'Connell has also been exceptional this season for the Fightin' Engineers. He currently has a .348 batting average with 39 hits leading the team with 11 doubles and 40 RBIs.
» Michael Yager leads the Fightin' Engineers on the mound with 42.0 innings pitched and 38 strikeouts. 
» Jonathan Oliger has been the team's star reliever with three saves and a 3.60 ERA.
» The Fightin' Engineers will continue conference play traveling to face Defiance on Saturday, April 27 at 1 PM and 4 PM, and Sunday, April 28 at 12 PM. 

ANDERSON NOTES:
» Anderson enters the weekend with a record of 18-11 overall and 8-4 in the HCAC. 
» The Ravens come off a three-game series sweep over Defiance with final scores of 4-3, 13-3, and 11-1.
» Jed Downham is a standout for the Ravens leading the team with 16 extra-base hits, a .477 on-base percentage, and a .681 slugging percentage.
» Charlie Jones has been another key contributor for Anderson with 37 hits, 15 RBIs, and a team-high 32 runs scored.
» Landen Southern is the team's ace on the mound with 48.1 innings pitched, a 3.72 ERA, and 55 strikeouts. 
» After facing the Fightin' Engineers, Anderson will host Wabash on Wednesday, April 24 at 4 PM. 

SERIES HISTORY:
» Rose-Hulman leads the series all-time between both teams with a record of 42-34 against the Ravens.
» Anderson swept the Fightin' Engineers during the regular season last year with scores of 11-4 and 9-5. 
» The teams met again in the HCAC Tournament with Rose-Hulman winning the first game 4-3, and falling short in the second game 6-3 to end the season.
