Baseball Travels to Face the Defiance Yellow Jackets This Weekend

GAME NOTES

Due to Saturday's game being moved to Defiance High School, there will be no live stream for Saturday's game.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology baseball team will hit the road to take on Defiance College in HCAC action this weekend. After a change in schedule, the team will face the Yellow Jackets on Saturday, April 27 at 6 PM at Defiance High School. They will then return to action for a doubleheader on Sunday, April 28 at 1 PM and 4 PM at Defiance College.

ROSE-HULMAN GAME NOTES:
» Rose-Hulman enters the weekend with a record of 18-14 overall and 9-6 in the HCAC. 
» The Fightin' Engineers come off a competitive three-game series with Anderson going 1-3 on the weekend defeating the Ravens in the second game 5-3. 
» Rose-Hulman has been picked to finish fourth in the conference receiving 62 points in the league's preseason poll.
» The Fightin' Engineers currently stand in fifth place in the HCAC behind Transylvania, Hanover, Anderson, and Mount St. Joseph. 
» The team leads the conference and ranks fourth in the nation with 36 double plays this season. 
» The team also ranks sixth in the nation in double plays per game with 1.13.
» Kade Kline leads the team with 48 hits, 42 runs scored, and 15 stolen bases this season.
» Earlier this season, Kline was the first player to hit for the cycle in school history in the Fightin' Engineers' last win of the Florida trip against Houghton.
» Colter Couillard-Rodak has been another standout at the plate with a .375 batting average, 37 runs scored, 48 hits, 30 RBIs, and an on-base percentage of .460.
» Michael Yager leads the Fightin' Engineers on the mound with 49.0 innings pitched and 43 strikeouts. 
» Jonathan Oliger has been the team's star reliever with three saves and a 4.38 ERA.
» The Fightin' Engineers will return to action traveling to face Greenville on Tuesday, April 30 at 6:30 PM CT.

DEFIANCE NOTES:
» Defiance enters the weekend with a record of 6-23 overall and 1-14 in the HCAC. 
» Defiance comes off a loss to Ohio Northern on Wednesday with a final score of 5-0.
» The Yellow Jackets come off three straight losses to Transylvania last weekend with scores of 12-6, 14-4, and 12-10.
» Gregg Gunner leads the team at the plate with 36 hits, 14 runs scored, 14 RBIs, a .520 slugging percentage, and .426 on-base percentage. 
» Connor Gephart is another standout for the Yellow Jackets with a .364 batting average, 32 hits, 15 runs scored, and 20 RBIs.
» Blake Bowman is the ace on the mound for the Yellow Jackets with a 6.26 ERA, 27.1 innings pitched, and 20 strikeouts.
» Johnny Hammerstein is also a strong arm for Defiance with a 6.26 ERA, 27.1 innings pitched, and 19 strikeouts. 
» After facing the Fightin' Engineers, Defiance will host Ohio Northern on Tuesday, April 30 at 4 PM.
