Baseball Opens HCAC Tournament Facing Franklin College

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology baseball team will compete against Franklin College in the opening round of the HCAC Baseball Tournament at 10 AM. The weekend tournament will be held at Kokomo Municipal Stadium in Kokomo, Indiana. General admission will be $10 per day with children 11 and under getting in for free.

ROSE-HULMAN GAME NOTES:
» Rose-Hulman earned the #3 seed in the tournament after finishing the regular season with a record of 23-17 overall and 14-8 in the HCAC. 
» The Fightin' Engineers come off a split with Manchester on Senior Day winning game one 15-9 and losing game two 7-3.
» Rose-Hulman was picked to finish fourth in the conference receiving 62 points in the league's preseason poll.
» The team leads the conference and ranks eighth in the nation with 40 double plays this season. 
» The team also leads the conference and ranks 10th in the nation in double plays per game with 1.00.
» Kade Kline leads the team with a .370 batting average, a 1.021 OPS, 54 runs scored, 64 hits, six triples, and six home runs.
» Earlier this season, Kline was the first player to hit for the cycle in school history in the Fightin' Engineers' last win of the Florida trip against Houghton.
» Connor O'Connell has been strong performer for the Fightin' Engineers with a .359 batting average, 30 runs scored, 56 hits, and a team-high 52 RBIs.
» Michael Yager leads the Fightin' Engineers on the mound with 61.0 innings pitched and 55 strikeouts. 
» Jonathan Oliger has been the team's star reliever with five saves and a 3.77 ERA.
» With a win, the Fightin' Engineers will move on to play #2 Transylvania University at 7:45 PM Thursday night. 
» With a loss, Rose-Hulman will face the loser of Mount St. Joseph and Anderson on Friday, May 10 at 10 AM.  

FRANKLIN NOTES:
» Franklin earned the #6 seed in the HCAC Tournament after finishing the regular season with a record of 20-20 overall and 9-13 in the HCAC.
» The team comes off a sweep over Anderson in their last doubleheader of the regular season with final scores of 4-3 and 15-6.
» The team is led by Tysen Lipscomb with a .386 batting average, a .667 slugging percentage, 53 runs scored, 59 hits, 14 doubles, nine home runs, and 48 RBIs.
» Matthew Johnson is the leading pitcher for the Grizzlies with 58.2 innings pitched and 65 strikeouts. 
» With a win, Franklin will take on Hanover at 4:30 PM on Thursday.
» With a loss, Franklin will play the loser of Mount St. Joseph and Anderosn on Friday, may 10 at 10 AM.
