Ebright and Carlson Highlight HCAC Award Winners for Volleyball

CARMEL, Ind. -- The Fightin' Engineers women's volleyball team landed four student-athletes on the HCAC All-Conference list, released by the league office on Wednesday. 

Lily Ebright highlighted the awards announcement, being named First Team All-HCAC and earning her fourth consecutive Defensive Player of the Year award. She received the award as the Co-Defensive Player of the Year with Madison Bizjack from Earlham College. Ebright becomes the first student-athlete in Rose-Hulman and HCAC history to win the award all four years. 

Greta Carlson was also a standout, being named Second Team All-HCAC and earning Newcomer of the Year. Emma Blanton and Keira Ohse were also named Second Team All-HCAC, and Carlson and Blanton were both listed on the HCAC First Year Team. 

Ebright was outstanding for the Fightin' Engineers in her senior campaign. She totaled 586 digs and averaged 5.98 digs per set during the regular season. Her digs per set average leads the conference and ranks sixth in all of NCAA Division III this year. Her 586 digs currently rank 12th in the school record books for a single season. Ebright also ranks second on the team this year with 44 service aces and 97 assists. For her career, she currently ranks second in career digs with 2,601, trailing Gabi Razma by 54 digs with 2,655 for the record. 

Carlson was a standout hitter for Rose-Hulman all season long. She led the team with 319 kills, averaging 3.29 kills per set in the regular season. She currently ranks seventh in the conference in kills and sixth in kills per set. Her 319 kills rank 14th in the single-season school record books.

Blanton was another exceptional freshman for the Fightin' Engineers. She totaled 252 kills in the regular season, averaging a team-high 3.36 kills per set. Her 3.36 kills per set ranks fourth in the HCAC. Blanton was a versatile weapon for the team, recording nine double-doubles on the year with double digits in kills and digs. She had a stretch of matches where she recorded five double-doubles in a row for the Fightin' Engineers. 

Ohse was the most efficient hitter for the Fightin' Engineers. She totaled a team-high .327 hitting percentage with 238 kills and 2.43 kills per set. Her .327 hitting percentage is a Rose-Hulman school record for a single season and brings her career total to .301, which ranks second in the career record books. Ohse also led the defense at the net with 44 blocks during the regular season. 

The Fightin' Engineers will continue their season in the HCAC Tournament. The team has clinched the #6 seed and will travel to face the #3-seeded Mount St. Joseph Lions in the HCAC Quarterfinals on Wednesday, November 12, at 7 PM.
