Baseball Hosts Elmhurst for Home Opening Series this Weekend

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology baseball team will host Elmhurst in their home opening series of the 2025 season. The team will face the Blue Jays on Friday, March 14, at 7 PM, Saturday, March 15, at 12 PM and 3 PM, then on Sunday, March 16, at 12 PM. 

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* The Fightin' Engineers enter the weekend with a record of 2-6 overall this season.
* The team has played a competitive schedule to start the year facing some of the top teams in the nation. 
* Rose-Hulman comes off two losses to (RV) Spalding and #4 Denison in the Derby City Classic last weekend. 
* Connor O'Connell leads the team with 11 hits, six RBIs, and a batting average of .333.
* Mark Serdinak is another standout at the plate leading the team with three home runs, a slugging percentage of .654, and an on-base percentage of .400.
* Brady Stawmyer leads the team on the mound with 15.2 innings pitched, 17 strikeouts, and a 1.72 ERA. 
* Rose-Hulman has been picked to finish third in the HCAC preseason coaches poll receiving 67 points. 
* Hanover was picked to finish second and Transylvania was picked to win the league with 79 points and seven first-place votes. 
* Rose-Hulman finished last season with an overall record of 25-19 and a conference record of 14-8. The team advanced to the consolation bracket semifinals in the HCAC with wins over Franklin and Mount St. Joseph. 
* The team ended their season with a loss to Anderson in the consolation semifinal.
* The Fightin' Engineers return a trio of All-HCAC selections including Kade KlineJonathan Oliger, and Connor O' Connell.
Peter Rogers and Colton Brown have also been named players to watch by the HCAC. 
Kade Kline was named third-team All-Region from D3baseball.com and the ABCA last season, finishing the year with a .354 batting average, a .414 on-base percentage, a .568 slugging percentage, and a .982 OPS.
* Kline also finished the season with 68 hits, 21 extra-base hits, 7 home runs, and six triples. 
* After hosting Elmhurst, Rose-Hulman will begin conference play traveling to take on Earlham on Saturday, March 22, at 1 PM and 4 PM. 

ELMHURST NOTES:
* The Blue Jays stand at 3-3 overall heading into their weekend series with the Fightin' Engineers. 
* The team comes off a win against Illinois Institute of Technology with a final score of 12-3.
* The team will face Concordia Chicago on Wednesday, March 12 before coming to face Rose-Hulman. 
* Rock Smith leads the team with 12 hits, nine runs scored, two home runs, a batting average of .522, and five RBIs so far this season.
* Smith also leads the team with a .913 slugging percentage and a .607 on-base percentage.
* Charlie Smith has seen the most time on the mound this year for Elmhurst, totaling 9.0 innings pitched with five strikeouts. 
* Carson Gnade leads the team with six strikeouts in only 4.1 innings pitched. 
* After facing Rose-Hulman, Elmhurst will travel to Florida for their spring break trip. The team will face Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts to start their trip on Thursday, March 20, at 12:30 PM. 

SERIES HISTORY:
* This is the first time in program history that Elmhurst and Rose-Hulman have faced each other.

Kade Kline - 1st in school history with 13 triples, 3rd with 48 stolen bases, and 8th with 144 runs scored
