Baseball Returns to Conference Play With Three-Game Series Against MSJ This Weekend

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology baseball team will return to conference play, traveling to face Mount St. Joseph in a three-game series this weekend. The team will play on Friday, April 18, at 3 PM and 6 PM, then on Saturday, April 19, at 1 PM. 

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* The Fightin' Engineers enter the mid-week matchup with a record of 15-13 overall and 8-5 in the HCAC. 
* The team comes off a loss to #22 Webster on Wednesday with a final score of 5-3.
Connor O'Connell leads the team at the plate with a .367 batting average, totaling 44 hits, 28 RBIs, and a slugging percentage of .567.
* Peter Rogers is another standout hitter with a .348 batting average, totaling 40 hits, 29 runs scored, 11 doubles, 19 RBIs, and a team-high 19 stolen bases.
Brady Strawmyer has been the ace on the mound for Rose-Hulman, leading the team with 47.0 innings pitched, a 3.83 ERA, and 41 strikeouts. 
* Rose-Hulman has been picked to finish third in the HCAC preseason coaches poll, receiving 67 points. 
* Rose-Hulman finished last season with an overall record of 25-19 and a conference record of 14-8. The team advanced to the consolation bracket semifinals in the HCAC with wins over Franklin and Mount St. Joseph. 
* The team ended their season with a loss to Anderson in the consolation semifinal.
* The Fightin' Engineers return a trio of All-HCAC selections, including Kade KlineJonathan Oliger, and Connor O'Connell.
Peter Rogers and Colton Brown have also been named players to watch by the HCAC. 
* After traveling to face MSJ this weekend, Rose-Hulman will travel to face DePauw on Wednesday, April 23, at 4:30 PM. 

MOUNT ST. JOSEPH NOTES:
* The Lions enter the weekend with a record of 19-10 overall and 8-6 in the HCAC. 
* The team has won its last three games, most recently defeating Asbury with a final score of 10-9. 
* The team is led by Jake Sanders with a .426 batting average, totaling 29 runs, 40 hits, and 32 RBIs.
* Jordan Harley is another standout with a .404 batting average, totaling 44 hits, 32 runs, and 20 RBIs.
* Nolan Miller leads the team on the mound with 40.1 innings pitched and 47 strikeouts. 
* The Lions were picked to finish sixth in the HCAC preseason poll with 45 points. 
* After facing Rose-Hulman, MSJ will travel to take on Transylvania on Friday, April 25. 

MOUNT ST. JOSEPH SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman leads the all-time series between both teams with a record of 33-18 overall against the Lions. 
* Rose-Hulman has won the last two games, defeating the Lions 12-6 and 11-10.
