TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Heartland Collegiate Athletics Conference has announced its weekly award winners for the sport of indoor men's track & field. Andrew Shields has been named the HCAC Sprint Athlete of the Week for his performance at the second installment of the Friday Night Spikes Series last Friday.

Shields was the standout for the Fightin' Engineers in the Friday Night Spikes #2 Meet. The mechanical engineering major earned two event wins in the 400-meter dash (50.80) and the 200-meter dash (22.76).

Shields' time in the 200 is the fastest in the conference this season. The Bryan, Texas, native also holds the fastest time in the 400 that he recorded in the Friday Night Spikes Larry Cole Opener.

This is the first HCAC Athlete of the Week honor for Shields this season and the third of his college career with the Fightin' Engineers.

The men's track & field program will return to action, hosting the Rose-Hulman Classic on Saturday, January 31, at 3 PM.
