Rose-Hulman Track & Field Gears Up for Action Packed Weekend

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman men's and women's track & field teams will hit the road for an action packed weekend of competition. The team will compete in the Heartland Invitational and Grand Valley Big Meet on Friday, February 13. Then the team will travel to compete at the DePauw Invitational on Saturday, February 14. 

ROSE-HULMAN MEN'S TRACK & FIELD NOTES:
* The Fightin' Engineers come off a doubleheader weekend last week, traveling to the Fairgrounds Invite and the Keck Select Meet. 
* Rose-Hulman recorded 13 top-15 finishes at the Keck Select Meet.
* Andrew Shields was named the HCAC Sprint Athlete of the Week for his performances across both meets. 
* Shields set the two fastest times in the HCAC in the 400 and 200 so far this season.
* He ran the 400-meter dash in 49.03 seconds at the Fairgrounds Invite, which is third in the Rose-Hulman school record books.
* He followed that with a time of 22.53 in the 200-meter dash at the Keck Select Meet.
* James Kaunas was another standout for the Fightin' Engineers at the Keck Select Meet with a third-place finish in the triple jump (13.49 meters, 44' 3.25") and a sixth-place finish in the long jump (6.41 meters, 21' 0.5").
* Joe Jansen and Kolton Nanko both added seventh-place finishes in the high jump (1.85 meters, 6' 0.75") and the pole vault (4.75 meters, 15' 7").
 * After this weekend's schedule, the men's track & field team will travel to the Indiana State Open on Saturday, February 21, at 12 PM. 

ROSE-HULMAN WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman comes off a doubleheader weekend, with athletes competing in the Fairgrounds Invite and the Keck Select Meet. 
* The team claimed seven top-15 finishes at the competitive Keck Select Meet hosted by Illinois Wesleyan.
* Jocelyn Onstot was named the HCAC Distance Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Keck Select Meet. 
* Onstot set a new top time in the HCAC in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:17.77.
* Narindwa Semakula earned the HCAC Sprint/Hurdles Athlete of the Week for her finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.25 seconds at the Fairgrounds Invite.
* Semakula's time is faster than anyone else in the conference, trailing only her time in the event from earlier this season at the Rose-Hulman Classic at 9.21 seconds.
* Rose Talbert also had an impressive finish in the 400-meter dash at the Fairgrounds Invite with a time of 58.78.
* At the Keck Select Meet, Brianna Bittel was another standout with a seventh-place finish in the mile with a time of 5:24.34.
 * After this weekend's schedule, the women's track & field team will travel to the Indiana State Open on Saturday, February 21, at 12 PM.
