TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Fightin' Engineers return home to host the Fightin' Engineers Spring Classic on Saturday, March 28, at 11 AM. The Rose-Hulman women's team will travel individuals to compete in the WashU Distance Carnival on Thursday, March 26, and Friday, March 27. The men's team will travel individuals to compete in the North Central First Chance Invite on Friday, March 27. 
 
ROSE-HULMAN MEN'S TRACK & FIELD NOTES:
* The Fightin' Engineer opened their outdoor season with a first-place finish at the Early Bird Invitational.
* The team finished the meet with seven event wins and 20 top-three finishes. 
* Andrew Shields was named HCAC Sprint Athlete of the Week for his performance.
* Shields claimed an event win in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.19 and a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.20.
* His 400 time ranks third in the RHIT record books and leads the HCAC so far this season. 
* Antoine Cooper was the standout in the throwing events, winning the discus with a mark of 47.48 meters and placing second in the hammer with a mark of 48.63.
* Kolton Nanko won the pole vault (4.90 meters), and Joe Jansen won the high jump (1.86 meters) to lead the jumps team for Rose-Hulman. 
* The Fightin' Engineer were voted to repeat as HCAC outdoor champions in the HCAC Preseason Poll, earning 79 points and six first-place votes. 
* The Fightin' Engineers concluded the indoor season as 2026 HCAC Champions.
* Rose-Hulman recorded six first-place finishes and 20 top-three finishes in the indoor championships.
* Head Coach Shane Mills was named the HCAC Indoor Coach of the Year, and Derrick Lawrence earned HCAC Indoor Assistant Coach of the Year. 
* Andrew Shields won HCAC Indoor Sprint Athlete of the Year, and Xaiden Jenson won HCAC Indoor Co-Newcomer of the Year.
* After hosting the Fightin' Engineers Classic, Rose-Hulman will travel to compete in the Pacesetter Invitational hosted by Indiana State on Friday, April 3, and Saturday, April 4. 
 
ROSE-HULMAN WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD NOTES:
* The Rose-Hulman women's track & field team got their season started with a third-place finish at the Early Bird Invitational. 
* The team earned five event wins and 10 top-three finishes in the meet. 
* Rose Talbert earned HCAC Sprint/Hurdles Athlete of the meet for her performance.
* Talbert broke the school record for the 400-meter hurdles with a first-place finish in a time of 1:02.80,
* Talbert teamed up with Emma Johns, Illiana Hernandez, and Alex Adams to break the school record in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 49.07.
* Brianna Bittel led the distance team with two event wins in the 800-meter run (2:30.44) and the 1500-meter run (5:04.06).
* Carolina Snyder-Perez was the top thrower for the Fightin' Engineers with event wins in the discus (37.38 meters) and the hammer throw (41.57 meters).
* Irene Lema Madueno led the jumps team with a second-place finish in the pole vault after clearing a height of 3.30 meters, ranking second in the RHIT record book.
* Rose-Hulman women's track & field has been selected to repeat as HCAC outdoor champions in the HCAC Preseason Poll, earning 79 points and seven first-place votes.
