TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's volleyball team plays its final non-conference match of the regular season Wednesday, Oct. 15, when the DePauw Tigers come to Hulbert Arena.
The Fightin' Engineers enter the game with an 11-13 overall record including a 2-2 mark in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play. Rose-Hulman played four matches last week beginning with a five set victory over Greenville despite dropping the first two sets. The Engineers then posted conference victories over Anderson (3-0) and Hanover (3-1) before dropping a match to Ohio Wesleyan (3-0) at Hanover on Saturday.
Offensively, three Engineers have totaled over 150 kills on the season with sophomore Morgan Dreyer leading the team with 166 kills. Freshman Becca Poppel and junior Sarah Jensen have recorded 156 and 155 kills respectively. Sophomore Emily McLendon leads the squad in hitting percentage at a .253 clip.
Along with being an offensive threat, Jensen and Dreyer split the setting duties for the Engineers. Both are approaching 400 assists for the season with Jensen at 396 and Dreyer at 367. Both also average over four assists per set.
Defensively, freshman libero Gabi Razma ranks ffith in the country with total 514 digs for an average of 5.59 digs per set. Senior Briana Harvey is second on the team in digs with 293. Rose-Hulman's two middle hitters, McLendon and freshman Mackenzie Gossard lead the team in blocks with 87 and 61 respectively.
DePauw comes into the match with an 18-7 mark. The Tigers split four matches last weekend defeating Wheaton (Ill.) and Kalamazoo in straight sets while falling to Calvin and Hope.
After the match with DePauw, Rose-Hulman continues HCAC play when it hosts Transylvania at 3 p.m. on Saturday, 18.
