TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology volleyball team continues Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play Saturday, Oct. 18 when the Fightin' Engineers host Transylvania for a 3 p.m. contest.
Rose-Hulman enters the match with an 11-14 record including a 2-2 mark in HCAC play. The Engineers played a single match last week, falling to DePauw in straight sets.
Offensively, junior Sarah Jensen and sophomore Morgan Dreyer lead Rose-Hulman with 170 and 160 kills respectively. Freshman Becca Poppel is the other Engineer to record over 150 kills with 158. Sophomore Emily McLendon and senior Briana Harvey have each also recorded over 100 kills with 148 and 140 respectively.
Jensen and Dreyer also share the setting duties for the Engineers with both setters having dished out over 350 assists through 25 matches this season.
Defensively, freshman libero Gabi Razma ranks No. 5 in the nation in digs with 530 digs on the season. Harvey is second on the team with 300 digs. The Engineers' middle hitters lead the team in blocking. McLendon and freshman Mackenzie Gossard have totaled 90 and 64 blocks respectively.
Transylvania comes into the match with an 11-15 mark including a 2-4 record in HCAC play. The Pioneers have lost their last five matches.
Rose-Hulman is 5-6 all-time record against Transylvania. The Engineers last won in 2011.
After the game with Transylvania, Rose-Hulman returns home Wednesday, Oct. 22 against Earlham. The match is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.
