TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology volleyball team hits the court this evening, Monday, when Greenville College comes to a Hulbert Arena for an 8 p.m. match.
Rose-Hulman, which comes into the match with an 8-12 record, lost two close matches on homecoming, Sept. 4. The Engineers dropped a four-set match to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) foe Franklin. The Engineers then fell to Illinois Wesleyan in five sets.
Freshman libero Gabi Razma broke a 15-year old record with her 46 dig performance against Illinois Wesleyan. The Cape Coral, Fla., native also tallied 30 digs in the match with Franklin to add to her 424 digs on the season. For her efforts, Razma was named HCAC Defensive Player of the Week.
As a team, Rose-Hulman attacks at a .156 clip. Individually on offense, four Engineers, (Morgan Dreyer, Emily McLendon, Sarah Jensen, and Briana Harvey) have recorded over 120 kills.
Defensively, McLendon leads the Rose-Hulman block with 72 of Rose-Hulman's 130 blocks on the season. Along with Razma, Harvey and Jensen have recorded 237 and 196 digs respectively. All in all, the Engineer defense holds its opponents to a .182 attack percentage.
Greenville comes into the match with a 14-5 record and riding an 8-match win streak. The Panthers also have a victory over Rose-Hulman 3-0 back on Sept. 2.
After the match with Greenville, Rose-Hulman returns to HCAC competition Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. match with Anderson.
