TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology baseball team hits the road for Hanover and a three-game series starting on Friday at 4 p.m.
The HCAC series also includes a doubleheader on Saturday at noon. The Fightin' Engineers are 12-10 overall and 7-5 in conference play, while Hanover stands 9-11 and 5-7 in league games.
Junior Drew Schnitz leads the Rose-Hulman offense with a .412 batting average on 14 hits, 10 runs scored, three doubles and one triple. Junior Caleb Kissel is also over .400 with a .405 mark and team-high totals of 34 hits and five doubles.
Sophomore Kevin Jendra has a .372 average with 16 hits, five runs scored and six RBIs. Junior Hazen Hamather, senior Patrick and junior Josh Koutnik also enter with averages above .300.
The starting pitching rotation has featured junior Andrew Stull (2-4, 2.36 ERA), junior Karson Nixon (2-1, 0.92) and senior R.J. Carroll (3-1, 2.72) as weekend starters. Freshman Joey Callahan (2-3, 4.00) has started the mid-week conference games thus far. Junior Alec McNally is 1-0 with three saves and a 0.96 ERA in seven appearances, while sophomore Cody Sunderhaus, senior Ben Menich, senior John Krasich and junior Gunnar Hutchison have appeared in five games or more.
Hanover dropped 2-of-3 in a home series against Anderson on Saturday and Monday. Alex Lantz leads the Panthers offense at .381 with four doubles and one home run. Matt Brooks (.372, 9 2B) joins six starters with batting averages above .300 for the Panthers.
Hanover has used six pitchers in starts this year, with the most innings by Matt Power (2-1, 7.88 ERA) and Jake Bauer (2-1, 5.40). Colin Marsh stands 2-1 with two saves and a 3.95 ERA in nine appearances that also include two starts. Live in-game coverage will not be made available by Hanover this weekend.
After this weekend's series, Rose-Hulman will face Franklin College for the third time this spring in a home game on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
