TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology opens the 2016 home baseball schedule with the Fightin' Engineer Invitational this weekend, featuring Baldwin Wallace and Illinois Wesleyan.
Rose-Hulman stands 4-3 on the season, while Baldwin Wallace stands 5-6 overall and Illinois Wesleyan has a 4-2 record. Illinois Wesleyan will compete in three spring trip games this week in addition to their first six games prior to this weekend's action.
The Rose-Hulman offense has been led by Zach Trusk (.444, 3 2B, 2 HR), Hazen Hamather (.391, 2 2B), Caleb Kissel (.367, 2 2B) and Kody Alayon (.333, 3 SB) with averages above the .300 mark. Patrick Klima has added three extra base hits so far this season.
On the mound, senior Andrew Stull tossed the first no-hitter of the NCAA Division III baseball season against Ohio Northern on Feb. 28. Karson Nixon has 19 strikeouts in 12 innings of work, and Daniel Sutherland tossed 7.1 shutout innings in Florida. Cody Sunderhaus (0.00 ERA) and Alec McNally (1.29 ERA) have appeared in multiple games with ERAs below 2.00.
