TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology travels to Hanover College for a three-game Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference series against Hanover College on Saturday and Sunday.
The series include two nine-inning games on Saturday at noon, followed by a single nine-inning contest on Sunday at noon.
The Fightin' Engineers stand 9-5 overall and 2-1 in HCAC play, while Hanover is 5-12 overall and 2-3 in league games.
Rose-Hulman has won four of its last five games entering this weekend's series. The offense features a .290 batting average with 23 doubles and five home runs in 14 contests. Zach Trusk leads the offense at .386 so far this season, while Kody Alayon (.351), Caleb Kissel (.333), Josh Koutnik (.323), Hazen Hamather (.319), Zach Hull (.316) and David Burnside (.300) are at .300 or better. Hull is the reigning HCAC Batter of the Week.
On the mound, Daniel Sutherland stands 3-0 with a 0.84 earned run average to lead the Rose-Hulman pitching staff. The rotation has also been highlighted by Karson Nixon (2-1, 3.96), Andrew Stuill (1-2, 4.81) and start-reliever Alec McNally (1-0, 2.70). Cody Sunderhaus has two saves out of the bullpen.
Hanover has six batters currently hitting above .300, led by Chase Sizemore at .400. Chris Ares (.369), Sam Orem (.324), Peyton Jones (.318), travis Thompson (.308) and John Scheil (.306) are also over the .300 mark. Matt Powers leads the pitching staff at 2-2 with a 3.41 earned run average, with Jake Bauer and Chase Justus making four starts each.
After this weekend's series, Rose-Hulman hosts Anderson on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Art Nehf Field in a single nine-inning contest.
