Baseball to Host Franklin on Wednesday at 6:30 PM

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology will now host Franklin College on Wednesday April 13 as part of a schedule swap caused by Monday's rain.

Rose-Hulman and Franklin will meet at Art Nehf Field on Wednesday at 6:30 pm in a single nine-inning game.  The second meeting between the two teams on April 19 will now take place at Franklin due to the schedule swap.

Rose-Hulman comes into the game leading the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference standings at 16-6 overall and 8-2 in league play.  The Fightin' Engineers lead Earlham, Manchester and Anderson by two games each on the loss side entering this week's play.

Rose-Hulman captured two wins in a three-game series against Transylvania last weekend.  The Fightin' Engineers have won eight of their last nine games entering Tuesday's matchup.

The Fightin' Engineer offense features all nine players in the standard starting lineup batting over .300.  Senior Kody Alayon leads the squad with a .352 average on 32 hits, 28 runs scored and 10 stolen bases.  Zach Trusk (.346, 7 2B, 2 HR) and Caleb Kissel (.345, 4 2B) join David Burnside (.333, 10 2B, 2 R) and Josh Koutnik (.333, 1 2B) in bolstering the batting order.

On the mound, Rose-Hulman's starting rotation has featured Daniel Sutherland (4-1, 2.12), Alec McNally (2-0, 2.55), Karson Nixon (4-1, 3.60), Andrew Stull (2-2, 5.25) and Joey Callahan (1-0, 5.30).  Cody Sunderhaus has emerged as the closer with three saves and 11 strikeouts in six innings of work.

Franklin stands 9-15 overall and 4-7 in HCAC play entering Wednesday's game.  Jordan Clark (.327, 8 2B, 5 HR), Frank Podkul (.311, 4 2B, 2 HR) and Mitchell Moore (.301, 2 2B, 1 HR) are eacdh hitting over the .300 mark so far this season for the Grizzlies.

Pitching wise, Franklin is led by Christian Sullivan (4-0, 2.76 ERA), Jordan Clark (2-0, 3.38), Jacob McCain (1-4, 3.71) and Hayden Cleveland (0-3, 4.70) as primary starting pitchers.

After Wednesday's game, Rose-Hulman travels to Bluffton for a three-game series on Saturday and Sunday.  The series features a doubleheader at noon on Saturday and a single game at noon on Sunday.
