RHIT-Manchester Series to Feature Friday Twinbill

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Due to projected weekend rain, the three-game baseball series between Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Manchester University will now include a doubleheader on Friday night at 6 p.m. and a single game on Saturday at noon.

Rose-Hulman stands 22-8 overall and 14-4 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play, while Manchester has a 19-14 mark and is 13-7 in league games.  The Fightin' Engineers and Spartans are first and second in the league standings entering this weekend's play.

Rose-Hulman also earned a regional ranking in the first NCAA Division III official poll this week.  The Fightin' Engineers are ranked No. 6 in the Mideast Region according to Thursday's rankings.

The Rose-Hulman offense features eight starters batting over .300 this season.  Patrick Klima leads the offense at .372 with nine doubles, one triple and one home run.  Drew Schnitz (.343), Kody Alayon (.333) and Caleb Kissel (.333) are all batting .333 or above, and David Burnside leads the offense with 16 extra hits.

Pitching wise, Rose-Hulman has relied on starting pitchers Alec McNally (4-0, 2.06), Daniel Sutherland (4-1, 2.43), Karson Nixon (5-2, 2.89), Joey Callahan (2-1, 4.12) and Andrew Stull (4-2, 4.76). Cody Sunderhaus has four saves and a 0.00 ERA in nine bullpen appearances.

The Manchester offense is led by Tailur Szarenski at .368 with 14 extra base hits, and Sean Knepper stands at .349 with 18 extra base hits.  The pitching staff is led by Taylor Kopplin (5-4, 2.58), Brandon Eck (4-3, 4.95) and Cody Fersuon (2-2, 4.46). Mason Neuman leads the bullpen with two saves.
