TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology will face Anderson University in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball matchup on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Victory Field in downtown Indianapolis.
Victory Field is the home of the Indianapolis Indians, the Class AAA affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. The $20 million facility was built in 1997 and has been named the nation's Best Minor League Park by multiple organizations.
Rose-Hulman and Anderson come into the matchup with identical 3-4 records in conference play. The Fightin' Engineers won the season's first meetings between the two teams by a 12-4 count last Wednesday at Art Nehf Field.
Zach Trusk is currently Rose-Hulman's leading hitter at .400 with 30 hits, five doubles and one home run. David Burnside has the team's highest on-base and slugging percentages with a .388 average, eight doubles, one triple and three home runs. Brian Thomas (.320, 2 2B, 1 HR), Marcus Wechselberger (.310, 3 2B, 1 3B) and Ryan Stachowski (.300, 3 2B) are also above the .300 mark for Rose-Hulman so far this season.
On the mound, freshman Luke Buehler has top earned run average among starters with a 1-1 mark and a 3.45 ERA. The rotation has included Ian Grant (1-2, 4.66), Jonathan Banks (1-1, 4.76) and Cody Sunderhaus (0-2, 5.83). Clayton Mayfield (1-2, 1.65) and Stone Brogan (0-0, 2.53) have led the relief corps.
Anderson is led offensively by Hunter Cornelius at .357, Nick Jones at .345 and Augdan Wilson at .342. The pitching staff has had nine pitchers start at least one game, led by Nick Jones (1-1, 1.08), Tucker Waddups (3-0, 1.37) and Kennedy Parker (1-2, 6.00).
After Tuesday's game, Rose-Hulman will hit the road for a three-game series at Transylvania University on Saturday and Sunday.
