Track & Field Teams Return Home for Friday Night Invitational This Weekend

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology will continue its "Friday Night Spikes" series of indoor track and field meets with the Friday Night Invitational on Jan. 19 at the Sports and Recreation Center.

Rose-Hulman News & Notes:

* Rose-Hulman was picked as the favorite to sweep the HCAC Men's & Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships this season, in the preseason league coaches polls
* The Fightin' Engineers opened the 2018 season with second-place finishes of three NCAA Division III teams in the Terre Haute Double Dual last Friday
* Rose-Hulman enters the 2018 season with 17 consecutive HCAC Men's Track and Field Championships (10 outdoor, 7 indoor) dating back to 2008
* The women's squad was the HCAC runner-up indoors and placed third outdoors in 2017
* The Fightin' Engineers have a combined roster of nearly 90 men's and women's heading into the 2018 season
* Returning men's conference champions from the 2017 indoor season include David Borden (4-x-200, 4-x-400); Josh Hennig (4-x-200, 4-x-400, 400); Josh Himes (shot put); Aaron Lannoy (800); and Matt Hill (5,000)
* Returning women's conference champions from the 2017 indoor season include Lauren London (long jump, 4-x-200); Gabi Razma (triple jump, 4-x-200); Victoria Heckenlively (4-x-200); and Jaclyn Setina (high jump)

The Competition:
* Team competing in the Friday Night Invitational include: Campbellsville, DePauw, Franklin, Hanover, Kentucky Wesleyan, St. Norbert 

Upcoming Action:
* After this weekend's action, Rose-Hulman will return home for the Engineer Invitational on Jan. 26.  The Engineer Invitational will also serve as Senior Night for the track and field programs.
