Baseball Looks for 4-0 Mark in Florida in Thursday 10:30 AM Finale

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology baseball team closes the Florida portion of its spring trip with a 10:30 am contest against Albion on Thursday.

Rose-Hulman (3-0, 0-0 HCAC) News & Notes:
  • Rose-Hulman stands 3-0 on the season, with wins of 16-6 over Fontbonne, 3-1 over Saint Joseph's and 10-4 over Gwynedd Mercy.
  • Head coach Jeff Jenkins became the 9th active and 22nd all-time NCAA Division III baseball coach to win 800 career games, with Tuesday's win over Saint Joseph's (Maine).
  • A well rounded attack has been the key to the 3-0 start.  RHIT is batting .340, allowing just 2.88 earned runs per game and has just four errors in three contests.
  • Offensively, AJ Ernst (.500), Logan Cody (.455, 1 2B, 2 3B) and Luke Kleumper (.455, 1 3B) are each hitting over .400 so far in Florida.
  • Shane Garner added his first career home run on Wednesday and is batting .364 with two doubles and an .808 slugging average.
  • Pitching wise, Matthew Rouse, Luke Buehler and Ben Yoss picked up wins and recorded 17 total strikeouts in 18 innings of work.
  • Rose-Hulman has won four HCAC Tournament titles, three regular season HCAC championships and made two appearances in the NCAA Division III Regional Championship Round since 2009. 
  • After the Florida trip is complete, Rose-Hulman travels to Sewanee for a Saturday doubleheader and a single game on Sunday during its trip home.

  • Albion has matched Rose-Hulman with a perfect 3-0 start this season.
  • The Britons have wins of 11-7 over Wittenberg, 11-7 over Saint Mary's (Minn.) and 13-7 over Waynesburg.
  • Albion is batting .349 with eight doubles, three triples and two home runs in three games.
  • The Britons have 21 pitching strikeouts in 27 innings of work.
