Baseball Heads to Sewanee for Saturday Road Doubleheader

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology baseball team heads to Sewanee for a 3-game series, featuring a doubleheader on Saturday and one game on Sunday.  Play begins at 11 am Central Time each day.

Rose-Hulman (3-1, 0-0 HCAC) News & Notes:
  • Rose-Hulman stands 3-1 on the season, with wins of 16-6 over Fontbonne, 3-1 over Saint Joseph's and 10-4 over Gwynedd Mercy.
  • Head coach Jeff Jenkins became the 9th active and 22nd all-time NCAA Division III baseball coach to win 800 career games, with Tuesday's win over Saint Joseph's (Maine).
  • A well rounded attack has been the key to the 3-1 start.  RHIT is batting .316, has struck out 36 batters in 36 innings pitched, and has just six errors in four contests.
  • Shane Garner leads the offense with a .462 batting average, two doubles and one home run so far this season.
  • Luke Kleumper and Shaine Mitchell are each batting .385 so far, and Andy Krajecki is 3-5 from the plate in his action.
  • Logan Cody has also added power with a .357 average, two doubles and one triple.
  • Pitching wise, early-week starters Matthew RouseLuke Buehler and Ben Yoss picked up wins and recorded 17 total strikeouts in 18 innings of work.
  • Rose-Hulman has won four HCAC Tournament titles, three regular season HCAC championships and made two appearances in the NCAA Division III Regional Championship Round since 2009. 
  • After Saturday's action, Rose-Hulman and Sewanee conclude their 3-game series with an 11 am CT game on Sunday.

  • Sewanee enters the weekend series with a 7-4-1 record so far this season.
  • Chris McNulty leads the offense with a .444 average and four home runs.
  • The Sewanee pitching staff has struck out 102 batters in 96 innings of work.
