Men's and Women's Track & Field Prepare for Friday Night Spikes #2

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Rose-Hulman track & field will return to action, hosting the Friday Night Spikes #2 indoor meet on Friday, January 23, at 5 PM.
 
ROSE-HULMAN MEN'S TRACK & FIELD NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman has placed first in two meets this season. 
* The team comes off a win at the Friday Night Spikes Larry Cole Opener with a team score of 155. 
* The Fightin' Engineers totaled 12 top-three finishes and five event wins in the meet. 
* Joshua Pohle led the distance team with a first-place finish in the mile with a conference-leading time of 4:27.73.
* Janes Kaunas was the top jumper for the Fightin' Engineers with a first-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 13.36 meters (43' 10") and a second-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 6.40 meters (21' 0").
* Other event winners included Kolton Nanko in the pole vault (4.20 meters), Joe Jansen in the high jump (1.78 meters), and the 4x200 relay team of Caleb Heldman, Lucas Faver, Daniel Taylor, and Andrew Shields (1:34.97).
* Rose-Hulman has been selected to finish first in the HCAC Preseason Poll, earning 80 points and eight first-place votes. 
* The team is led by Head Coach Shane Mills in his second season with the Fightin' Engineers.
* After competing in the Friday Night Spikes #2, Rose-Hulman will host the Rose-Hulman Classic on Saturday, January 31, at 3 PM.
 
ROSE-HULMAN WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD NOTES:
* The Fightin' Engineers have earned two second-place finishes during the indoor season. 
* Rose-Hulman comes off a runner-up finish at the Friday Night Spikes Larry Cole Opener with a team score of 149.
* The team finished the meet with 12 top-three finishes and five event wins.
* Rose Talbert earned an event win in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.85. 
* Jocelyn Onstot was another standout with a win in the 800-meter dash with a conference-leading time of 2:19.08.
* Other event winners included Carolina Snyder-Perez in the weight throw (12.95 meters), Irene Lema Madueno in the pole vault (2.97 meters), and the 4x200 relay team of Alex Adams, Abigail Drumm, Ally Smith, and Narindwa Semakula (1:51.22).
* Rose-Hulman was picked to finish first in the HCAC Preseason Poll, earning 81 points and nine first-place votes. 
 * The team is led by Head Coach Shane Mills in his second season with the Fightin' Engineers.
* After competing in the Friday Night Spikes #2, Rose-Hulman will host the Rose-Hulman Classic on Saturday, January 31, at 3 PM.
